At our Game Career Exploration Day, you will learn the difference between what it takes to be a game artist versus a game designer or game programmer. You can also discover the various career paths on the business side of the game industry, which offer many exciting management positions.

This is your chance to get a look at the various available professional opportunities in the game industry and find out what kind of skills and experience you need to land those jobs when you graduate.

When you come to Game Career Exploration Day, you will be able to

  • connect with the Game Studio faculty for a presentation and discussion on the distinctive nature of our multi-disciplinary, collaborative curriculum;
  • meet faculty from each of the four Game degree programs to help you determine what area of game production is best for you and your future career in the game industry;
  • find out about our Game Studio model, in which students in our four Game majors work as a team to learn how games are produced in the real world;
  • talk with individual faculty about the Game majors that interest you the most. (Our Game faculty members are all experts with extensive experience in the game industry.)

Seniors—receive expert guidance on your Game Art or Game Design portfolio.

During the Game Career Exploration Day event, we host special Portfolio Review Sessions for high school seniors applying to our Game majors that have a Portfolio Review Requirement (Game Art and Game Design). These events will give you the opportunity to meet one-on-one with faculty for 20 minutes to receive feedback on your portfolio before you submit it with your Champlain application.

To schedule a Portfolio Review Session simply indicate your major on the Portfolio Review section of the registration. Space is limited. Requests will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

When you register for Game Career Exploration Day, be sure to also register for Fall Open House on Saturday, October 5. You won't want to miss out on all the rest of the details that will make up your life as a Champlain student.

During the Open House, you can take a full student-led tour of our beautiful campus, including first-year housing in our Victorian-era mansion residence halls. Panel presentations will allow you to ask all your questions about the admissions process, financial aid and student life.

Why study game fields at Champlain?

Champlain has one of the oldest Game Design degrees in the country. That means we are years ahead of other programs in understanding how to cultivate highly employable game developers who have exactly the right mix of experience and skills game companies seek in employees.

Champlain is the only college in the country that

    • Game Art
    • Game Design
    • Game Programming
    • Game Production Management;
  • brings students together to work in our Game Studio, giving them direct experience in the same TEAM-ORIENTED ENVIRONMENT they will encounter in game industry workplace settings;
  • provides students the opportunity to LEARN AND INTERN AT OUR CAMPUS IN MONTREAL, Canada—the game capital of North America and one of the largest game development centers in the world.

Refer-a-Friend and get a Champlain sweatshirt!

Have a friend who is a junior or senior in high school who is looking at colleges? If you are planning a visit to our Burlington, Vermont, campus, we'd love for you to invite them to come along.

When you register to come to campus for Game Career Exploration Day, you'll have the opportunity to refer-a-friend right on the registration form. All we need is a first and last name and a valid email address. We take care of the rest! We'll send an email to your friend telling them you referred them (providing the date of the event). There is a special Refer-a-Friend link in the email that will allow them to register for the same event you are registered for. All they need to do is click that link and register (and they, too, can refer another friend and get a sweatshirt using that form). If the friend you refer registers for and attends the event, YOU get a nice (like, really nice) Champlain sweatshirt at the event.

Please note: Offer does not apply if you refer the friend who referred you. Limit one sweatshirt per student.
