Kick off College Life with a Summer Launch Experience

Enjoy summer in Vermont with your future classmates!

Every summer, we offer incoming students opportunities to get together and do something cool. These optional three-day programs are a great way to start off your new college life with an extraordinary and rewarding experience.

A Summer Launch program is perfect if you'd like to:

  • see a bit of Burlington over the summer (amazing),
  • meet other students from your class before Orientation (genius), and
  • have a total blast (accurate).

For just $200, why not treat yourself to a mini vacation that can have a wonderful and lasting impact on your time at Champlain? Participating in a Summer Launch program ensures that when you arrive for Orientation, you'll already recognize some friendly faces. Along with a few days of exploration, fun, and personal growth this summer, you get to walk onto campus in the fall and already feel like you're coming home. It’s a good deal.

Incoming students may register for more than one Summer Launch program. Space is limited for most events, and registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. (In other words, register as soon as you can!)

Check back here on May 1 to register for a Summer Launch program.

Summer Launch Schedule

July 8–10 (Sun–Tues)

Outdoor Adventure Program

Spend three days on a backcountry retreat at a wilderness lodge, building friendships with fellow adventure-minded classmates. Activities include a beginner's hike, fun games and exciting opportunities for getting connected. While you won't be living on campus for this program, you'll still develop bonds that will last well beyond your four years at Champlain. Our Outdoor Adventure Program is an excellent way to kick-start your Champlain College Experience. Dare to join us?

July 18–20 (Wed–Fri)

True Grit and Resilience

Resilience is our ability to pick ourselves up from setbacks, and grit is our capacity to stick with challenges over time. The college experience demands that students develop these attributes as life skills—so why not be prepared? While you're here, you'll map out your personalized training plan for a Spartan Sprint at Killington Resort in September. Take the opportunity to go for a run or hit the gym with a faculty member. Get acclimated to campus and learn about the wellness and academic resources available to you. This unique Summer Launch program will explore your own grit and resiliency with the guidance of an Academic Coach/Spartan Race veteran and the support of like-minded students. This program is geared to all students of all ability levels.

July 25–27 (Wed–Fri)

Leadership Experience Program

Would you like to get involved, make friends and find out about Champlain's leadership opportunities before you even arrive on campus in August? The Champlain College Leadership Experience Summer Launch Program is for you. You'll meet like-minded members of the College community while learning different leadership styles. You'll also get to work on team-building skills at a local ropes course and explore all that Burlington has to offer. By the end of this three-day experience, you'll have made some new friends and gained a great understanding of how to get involved at Champlain.

August 1–3 (Wed–Fri)

Champlain Ultimate Transition Experience

Transitioning to college can be harder for some students than others. If you have struggled with transitions in the past—or with making social connections—this program might be a good fit for you. Students who attend this program will get to experience all aspects of college life on a smaller scale, before the campus is full in the fall. While you spend three days living the complete residential, academic and social experience of college, you'll explore all of the resources available on campus and in the community. Participate in activities both on and off campus that will help you create social connections to build upon when you return for your first semester.
