All new students will attend our January New Student Orientation. This includes first-year students starting in the Spring 2018 term as well as transfer students starting classes in January, and all of our international students who are arriving for the Spring 2018 term.
Champlain College January New Student Orientation
Orientation begins Sunday, January 14 with move-in and check-in. Residential students will check in at Skiff Hall (163 S. Willard Street) from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Once you are checked in, you can start moving into your residence hall. Commuter students will check in at the Student Life Center (262 S. Willard Street) from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
For residential students needing to arrive on Saturday, January 13 regardless of the weather, a member of the Residential Life team will be available to help you from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Skiff Hall (163 S. Willard Street).
Champlain’s Orientation program is designed to get you acclimated to the College before your classes begin. Our January Orientation is smaller than the one we hold each August to welcome in the new class of first-year and transfer students however, our January Orientation is just as important—and just as fun and worthwhile.
The rest of the activities focus on helping you get to know the campus:
You’ll be placed in a small group with other new students and an Orientation Leader who will be your guide for the events.
Your family is welcome to attend morning and early afternoon activities, and then there will be a special farewell to the folks at 3:30 PM. There will be additional activities and social events after families leave that run into the evening on Saturday and during the day on Sunday. You won’t want to miss any of it!
There is no fee to participate in January Orientation.
Please feel free to contact Jared Cadrette with any questions you have regarding Orientation.
International students will participate in both the special International Student Orientation and the general January Orientation for all new students. This special International Student Orientation is mandatory for all new incoming international and exchange students, as is the New Student Orientation for all new students.
The International Student Orientation is designed to help our international students get settled, take care of College business, and meet various staff and faculty. A variety of activities, workshops and outings are planned. The International Student Orientation fee is $150. This fee covers meals, expenses and activities held during Orientation week.
