As much as we wanted to host you on our campus this summer, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all of our Pre-College Summer Programs. The safety of our community is our highest priority and first responsibility and we continue to take guidance from local, state, and federal health authorities regarding our ability to welcome visitors to our campus. If you have already registered for this summer program, your program director will be in touch with you shortly about processing your full refund.
While we are disappointed that we won't be seeing you this summer, please feel free to fill out the form on this page and we'll keep you posted on dates for our Summer 2021 program. And, of course, should you have questions about our undergraduate academic offerings, please feel free to reach out directly to us. As always, we remain committed to helping students explore their passion and refine their skills as they prepare for their futures.
What it's all about:
The Pre-College Art & Design Summer Program is a 16-day intensive summer learning program that provides current high school students with an opportunity to create new works or refine their personal portfolios, get a taste of college life and earn three transferable college credits. Students can choose to specialize in graphic design, film & video, game art, or creative media. Students spend much of each day in the studio creating or preparing their work for presentation. They are also encouraged to bring their existing work for review and will receive personalized and constructive advice on how to refine their portfolio for college admittance.
Learn by doing
The studio experience begins with an immersion in in 2-D design foundational studies, including observational drawing, an introduction to color and composition, and digital skill building. Using the state-of-the-art facilities at the hillside campus of Champlain College, students work closely with nationally-recognized, industry-experienced professors and staff and connect with other highly-motivated students through a common interest in art and graphic design. When not attending class or doing creative work, students enjoy recreational activities as well as cultural and social events that highlight the unique advantages of summer in Vermont.
