802-865-8454 | Manager for Strategic Partnerships in China
Rick works to connect the Emergent Media Center with cosmopolitan China. This will pave the way for Champlain students to gain global competencies for their future work, while Chinese creatives will bring new insights to the work of the College. Rick has a Bachelor's in Chinese literature from Yale, and a Masters in Comparative Education from SUNY, Buffalo. He has taught at every level from P-K through university, getting his start as part of the very first teacher-prep program where Chinese and American teachers lived and worked side-by-side in China. He was later headmaster at a school for gifted children and principal at a school for dyslexic boys, and has often done project management work at the university level involving his continuing study of Comparative Education. Having started as an engineering student, Rick also likes to tinker, and rebuilds things like houses, cars, motorcycles and old wooden sailboats. He worked as a network engineer and systems administrator until his two lovely daughters grew up and discovered that he was modeling his father-role on Louis C.K. and immediately liberated their Dad to return to education. While not working or biking or sailing, his favorite pastime remains Chinese literature and media, which is still very much informed by the Chinese classics.
