Teams of undergraduate and graduate students work directly with real-world clients under the supervision of Managing Director Joseph Williams, Professional Services Director Alexander Caron, and other Champlain College faculty.
Through their work at the Center, students gain valuable experience as they tackle real and complex digital forensic issues—an experience that makes them more marketable as they begin, and advance in their careers.
Adam Goldstein - Executive Director
Adam Goldstein is an Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity at Champlain College. He has over 20 years of experience in the field, having worked as Information Security Officer and Security Operations Director at leading institutions of higher education. He is involved in numerous cybersecurity education outreach efforts and is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Computer Examiner (CCE), and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

Joseph Williams - Managing Director
Joseph Melvin Williams was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After high school, he attended Texas A&M University from 1998-2003, where he received a Bachelor's of Science in Bioenvironmental Science. In March of 2004, Williams enlisted in the Navy as an Information System Technician as a way to help pay off student loans and started his journey to learn about computers.
Williams had the opportunity to travel the world in the Navy and work with many great leaders and peers. After over seven years of active duty in the Navy, Williams decided to try his luck in the civilian world. He started taking classes towards his Master's in Education at Old Dominion University in Virginia in the spring of 2009, and transferred to online classes when he moved to Vermont. He started looking for jobs in the Burlington area and applied for the Team Leader position at the Leahy Center. He was offered the position and moved to Burlington full-time. He's been with the Leahy Center ever since.
Alexander Caron - Professional Services Director
Alexander Caron is an adjunct faculty and full-time staff member in the Division of Information Technology & Sciences. As an alumnus of Champlain College's Computer and Digital Forensics Bachelor of Science program, he returned to Champlain with a diverse background that has provided him with insight into many of today's complex fields. Caron remains deeply involved with a number of area investigative and law enforcement agencies, providing technical and analytical expertise. Additionally, these experiences have enabled him to gain hands-on experience in computer and digital forensics, information assurance, intelligence analysis, computer networking and administration, project management, and public safety administration.
Caron's began his digital career from a young age when he started his business for IT support and consulting for local businesses and residents. In 2011, Caron accepted a highly selective cyber security training program with the Department of Defense in Washington, DC. After successful completion of this competitive program, Caron was offered a full-time, post-grad analyst position. In that position, Caron worked on some of the nation's most challenging national security issues. In addition to his experience in the fields of forensics and intelligence, Caron has been employed by and consulted for a handful of public safety agencies throughout his career.
