We've evolved!

Starting in Fall 2017, all current undergraduate students will be participating in the rollout of our new career education curriculum: the Career Flagship Program.

We've evolved the existing Life Experience & Action Dimension (LEAD) program into a cutting-edge career and financial education program. Just like LEAD, the Career Flagship Program works together with your major and our liberal arts Core curriculum as part of your multidimensional career-focused education. Each year, you'll complete a series of required milestones focused in two key areas we call "tracks": Career Positioning Track and Personal Finance Track.

Already Working on LEAD Credits?
If you're a current student and have not completed all of your LEAD credits as of yet, we've got you covered. You will continue to work with your Career Coach to meet the required objectives you've been working toward and have the benefit of being able to partake in some of the features and activities that are part of the new Career Flagship Program!

New to Champlain?
All current students who are new to Champlain will complete a series of required milestones through career signature events, professional workshops (Career SMARTalks), company visits, employer information sessions, internships, field experiences and much more.

Get On Track For Your Future

The Career Flagship Program is focused in two key tracks: Career Positioning and Personal Finance.

Through these tracks, you will create personalized action plans to effectively market yourself to prospective employers and learn how to manage your personal finances. Along the way, you'll earn achievements that allow you to measure your success.


You'll create a career marketing plan highlighting the unique talents and benefits that set you apart from other job candidates.

By graduation, you'll produce a:

  • Career profile with a competency-based statement of your skills;
  • Professional résumé and cover letter targeted to your position/career goals;
  • Up-to-date, polished LinkedIn profile;
  • 30-second "elevator" pitch that answers, "Why should we hire you?"

You'll learn fundamental skills in salary negotiation (including benefits and evaluation of compensation packages), budgeting, and debt and credit management.

By graduation, you'll have a:

  • Personal financial assessment report that marks your progress from first year to fourth year;
  • Budget allocation report based on projected salaries for careers related to your major;
  • Cost of living analysis based on geographic location of your prospective job;
  • Credit action plan identifying steps you can take to improve your credit profile and standing;
  • Personalized student loan repayment plan.
