Viewing Your Champlain Account & Making Payments

2018 Spring semester payments are due December 1, 2017.

Spring semester billing statements are posted to student accounts on November 3, 2017, and all payments are made online through TouchNet. A posted statement may actually reflect a credit balance if there is estimated financial aid that will overpay the 2018 Spring semester tuition and fees (see 'Credit Refunds & Balances' below).

Bill Details

You have questions, we have answers. We want to do whatever we can to help you decide if attending Champlain College is right for you. If you don't find the answer to your questions below or in our student handbook, please contact our Admissions Office.

Graduation Fees

There will be a $150 graduation fee charged to all degree-seeking students. The Graduation Fee is a one-time, non-refundable fee that is added to the student's account when a student is registered for the last semester of classes. The fee is to be paid when the final semester payment is due, regardless of whether a student intends to participate in the commencement ceremony.

Financial Aid

Financial aid awards are listed as estimated credits on the online billing statement.

Federal Direct Loans: The pending credit listed for Federal Direct Loans is the net disbursement amount after loan processing fees. The estimated credit listed for Federal Direct Loans is the net disbursement amount after loan processing fees. First-time borrowers at Champlain College must complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) online at www.studentloans.gov.

Direct Graduate PLUS Loans: If you have been approved for a Direct Graduate PLUS loan by the billing date, the loan will appear on the bill as an estimated credit.  Students applying for the Direct PLUS loan, must go to www.studentloans.gov, click "Apply for a PLUS Loan" and complete two steps: "Direct Plus Loan Request for Graduate/Professional Borrowers" and "Complete PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN)". 

Private Education Loans: Students borrowing a Private Education Loan must be approved by the lender in order for the loan to be deducted from the bill. 

Direct Graduate PLUS and Private Loans must be fully approved by December 1, 2017, to retain your Spring semester course registration, so we strongly encourage you to act promptly. 

Deducting Private Scholarship

You may deduct from your payment due any private scholarships which will be disbursed to the College before December 1, 2017.  Please send a copy of the scholarship letter or check to Compass Student Services and pay your remaining balance online. If you have already received a financial aid award letter, these additional scholarship funds may impact certain aid eligibility, and the Office of Financial Aid may revise your award accordingly.

Employer Tuition Assistance Billing

If your employer will provide financial assistance to you to pay your tuition and requires billing from us, please complete the employer billing form and email it to studentaccounts@champlain.edu or fax it to 802.860.2762. If your company has its own form, you may send that form instead.

Veteran Educational Benefits

Student veterans, current military members or dependents planning to pay tuition by using VA education benefits must notify our Veteran and Military Program Manager.  Complete this online form each semester after registering for classes so that your benefits may be paid to your student account at Champlain College.

Credit Balances & Refunds

A posted statement may actually reflect a credit balance if there is estimated financial aid that will overpay the 2018 Spring semester tuition and fees.

Students who receive financial aid in excess of their billed charges will be issued a refund in February. We recommend that you enroll in Electronic Funds Transfer (eChecks), through WebAdvisor to have these funds sent directly to your bank account. Enrolling in eCheck refunds ensures the fastest access to your refund.  In WebAdvisor, see "eChecks" in student menu.

A refund will only be issued after the funds have been received by the College and the student's enrollment has been confirmed, usually the third Friday of the semester.  An email is sent once the funds have been released so you will know when your refund has been processed.

Accessing Student Information

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that affords others the right to have access to their student's education records. The student must sign a FERPA consent form authorizing the College to speak with others about their account. Once a student begins classes, the FERPA consent form is required to allow our staff to speak with you about your student's account.
