SUMMARY:HOPE Works Advocate Drop-in Hours
DESCRIPTION:HOPE Works\, a Burlington-based confidential non-profit dedicated to ending all forms of sexual violence\, will host drop-in office hours where students can learn about their services and seek support with experiences of relationship abuse\, sexual violence\, and stalking\, as well as answer questions about Title IX. These drop-in hours will be held in the Student Health Center\, located on the ground floor of Whiting Hall on the Burlington campus. \nThis collaborative event is supported by the Division of Student Affairs\, the Title IX Office\, the Student Health Center\, the Counseling Center\, and Dare to Care. \nHOPE Works advocates are a confidential resource open to our student community.

SUMMARY:Human Trafficking Awareness Presentation
DESCRIPTION:As a part of Sexual Violence Awareness Month (SAAM)\, the Title IX Office and Relationships 101 Working Group are hosting Katie Newell\, Vermont’s Statewide Human Trafficking Case Manager\, for a presentation to raise awareness on human trafficking. \nA description of the event is as follows: Understanding the complexities of human trafficking can be challenging. Human trafficking involves the exploitation of individual vulnerabilities predicated on social inequities and marginalized populations. This training will provide a basic knowledge and understanding of how human trafficking is defined\, increase participants’ knowledge of the dynamics of exploitation and offer a basic understanding on what makes individuals vulnerable to trafficking.
