Commencement will take place virtually on Saturday, May 9. The On-Campus Undergraduate Virtual Ceremony will take place at 12:00 PM (ET) and the Champlain College Online Undergraduate and Masters Virtual Ceremony will take place at 3:00 PM (ET).
The ceremonies will be livestreamed on Champlain’s Commencement website at commencement.champlain.edu.
Yes, all Virtual Commencement ceremonies will be available to view on Champlain’s Commencement website after May 9.
The virtual ceremony can be viewed on a computer, laptop, tablet or phone. No special software or apps are required.
Following each ceremony, which will be about 30 minutes long, there will be separate, smaller ceremonies in which each graduate’s name will be read and the degrees officially conferred by the President. For on-campus undergraduates, names will be read by academic division. For CCO and Master’s graduates, there will be three ceremonies, one for undergraduates, one for online Master’s, and one for the M.Ed., MFA and M.S. in Emergent Media.
Guidance on how to view your program’s diploma ceremony will be provided at the conclusion of the main Commencement ceremony.
If you haven’t already provided phonetic pronunciation of your name, you can do so here.
We hope you will create a celebration wherever you are. A Plan Your Party guide is available on Champlain’s Commencement website here.
Information on how to order your robe and hood was emailed to graduating students on April 24. Please refer to this email for guidance or email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions. The deadline for ordering regalia is April 30.
Honor stoles and cords (honor society, veterans, etc.) will be given out at the in-person ceremony, planned for a future date. Acknowledgement of these honors will take place at that time, as well.
The Commencement website will provide all the information you need for the virtual ceremony. A printed program will be available for Champlain’s in-person ceremony.
Students completing their programs in May 2020 will receive their printed diploma, by mail, in early June. Additionally, May 2020 graduates will receive their digital diploma on May 9. Students who graduated in August or December 2019 will have already received both a print and digital diploma. All print diplomas are mailed to the address we have on record, so please make sure your address is up to date!
Students who are receiving a certificate will only receive a digital certificate. All digital credentials are issued through our vendor, Parchment. Students receiving digital credentials can expect to receive an email from Parchment to your Champlain email account.
We are committed to holding an in-person celebration in the coming year, as soon as we understand what will be possible in the context of the current public health crisis. Plans for that celebration will be shared in the months ahead. We look forward to the opportunity to gather on campus in recognition of your accomplishments.
We will have a social media tag wall featured on the homepage of our commencement website, and it will also be shown during the live virtual ceremony. To be featured, share your photos, well wishes, and favorite memories using #ChampGrad on Twitter or Instagram feed. If your social media accounts are private, direct message the @champlainedu or @champlainonline accounts. If you do not have social media, email your photos and content to email@example.com.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with additional questions.
