What to expect at the Media Production Academy?
You can expect to learn a ton during your summer academy experience at Champlain College. But what most students remember just as much is the fun they have hanging out with an awesome group of people who are interested in the same things that they are.
Who should attend this academy?
Any high school junior or senior who has dreamed about building a career around doing something they love. If you are wondering if the world of broadcast, streaming video, films, or podcasting is for you, this academy will give you the insight you need to know.
What is the academy all about?
This summer program is designed to give students a world-class experience in the ever-evolving field of media production. Our intent is to help students discover their passion for learning, expand their horizons, and transition to a college learning environment that will position them for a career they will be excited about.
What will my student gain from the academy?
This Academy provides the opportunity for your student to work with local practitioner faculty, producers, and journalists, who have extensive field experience and ongoing affiliations with major media outlets. Gain hands-on experience in the state-of-the-art facilities at the Center for Communication & Creative Media as well as enhance their college applications. College admissions staff will recognize completion of the Academy as a significant academic accomplishment and a sign of a motivated learner.
Is there an Academy nurse or health center, and can the Academy dispense my child's medications?
Please note that the Academy is not staffed by a nurse or other medical care provider, and does not stock any medications. Students must bring any medications they may need and they must be able to self-dispense their medications. Academy staff is not able to supervise dispensing of medications. Emergency medical services are available at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
