Apart from the Pathways Scholarship being a huge monetary help for me to afford a great private college education, it has also provided me with a mentor who guided me through my first year. This mentor would help me with anything related to college, like getting a book advance or an angel fund to buy books, or setting me up with tutors from the Smart Space to help me with assignments. 

[My mentor was] also someone that I could just talk to about issues not relating to school that could affect my performance, or just my mental health in general. I think of this mentor as my close friend, my guidance, and almost therapist all together. I can't imagine having survived my first year without her support. This mentor connected me with some other amazing staff and faculty that I still keep in touch with today. I became close with staff from the Office of Diversity & Inclusion as well as many other resources on campus that I wouldn't have gotten in contact with if it weren't for my mentor pushing me to be involved in my community as much as I could.

At the end of the year, when I was applying for my leadership positions on campus, my mentor was able to write recommendation letters for me that gave a very accurate insight to who I was because she knew me so well. With her help, and that of other faculty I had connections with because of the CARE program, I was accepted in all three leadership positions that I applied for.

Although I don't have my weekly meetings with my mentor anymore, she gave me the confidence to advocate for myself and know my way in and out of Champlain. If I ever need her again, I know that I can always count on her and she'll be more than glad to help as well. I can't express enough how the Pathways Scholarship and CARE program have helped me in college and I'm very grateful for it. 

The Pathways Scholarship and CARE program have connected me to individuals on campus in different areas that support students like me. CARE has helped me create relationships and connect with people that I didn't know could exist. CARE started a lot of conversations about the goals and dreams I want to accomplish. It changed the phrase 'I can't do this' to 'I can't do this but I know who to talk to to reach there.' The programs have pushed me out of my comfort zone when I couldn't. Without me being a part of CARE, I wouldn't be the person I am today.

The most rewarding part of the CARE program is the relationship you make. From the students that start with you to the staff checking on you, wondering what else they can do to help your journey at Champlain. Including you in every event on campus that's possible. CARE created the support system that I didn't even know I needed in my first year and I'm thankful for that.

The CARE program has been something I loved being a part of during my first semester at Champlain. This program has helped me identify my strengths and has helped me make connections with so many faculty members and staff on campus. I am super grateful to be a part of this!

This program has helped me navigate my first year of college and has helped me get through it. Monica and Miranda are genuinely incredible and are always willing to help you in any capacity.

The first year was a fantastic experience; even though we dealt with covid, the CARE program created a space to interact with my peers. Due to the CARE program, I'm close friends with my fellow CARE peers from last year.

The Pathways Scholarship and CARE program have been a pivotal turning point in my life. With the support of the scholarship, I started my own business in my first year of college and created so many long-term connections in the industry.

What I would say is the most rewarding part of the CARE program is just experiencing the best that Champlain College has to offer. From the first week of the CARE program to the last day of classes, I felt entirely supported and confident to succeed at Champlain College. 

The CARE program has helped me identify what I want to get out of being here in a school of students and faculty that look different from me. It has helped me look for resources in case I feel uncomfortable or challenged.

I have met many awesome faculty members and great guides to the path of being successful. They are willing to go above and beyond and be a clutch if I need advice.

The CARE program has just so many opportunities to offer, so a lot of students won't feel so alone going through their first year of college. I am grateful for having them and making a great choice of being with CARE.
