I ultimately chose (TAP) because I was encouraged by the design and timeframe of the program, and when I visited the class, the people involved were very welcoming...
I learned so much during TAP! Beyond just reading the 10 Core Teaching Standards, we were able to think about how our teaching connected to them. I also was exposed to many techniques and ideas about teaching that I had not thought about. I also learned a lot about myself, notably that I made the right decision to leave my previous job and focus full-time on being a teacher.

I was attracted to the condensed timeframe and hands-on nature of the program. When I started looking into programs, my husband and I were worried about whether or not we could swing it financially. As a business major, I closely analyzed and compared the costs of teaching programs in the area. [...] The reasonable cost and condensed timeframe of TAP made a teaching program accessible to me and my family.
I was excited that we'd get to be in the classroom 95% of the time and be on our way to becoming licensed teachers in just eight short months!

As a former police officer, I must say that before attending TAP seminars, I didn't know anything about being a teacher. During my time with TAP, I learned many things about becoming a teacher. However, what resonated with me was when the TAP faculty introduced Danielson's Framework for Teaching. It made me realize that the majority of the work a teacher performs, is not in the instruction itself, but it is rather in planning and preparation for instruction. [...] I learned from TAP that through my instruction, I should engage all learners regardless of their academic backgrounds and socioeconomic status.

As teachers we are first and foremost learners. During TAP seminars and the student teaching experience, I felt like a sponge. I wanted to absorb everyone's experiences-- the directors, my peers, my mentor.
The possibilities of making your classroom your own were endless and I was exhilarated by that potential.
I am very grateful to have been placed at Burlington High School with my mentor [...]. He allowed me to run my class how I saw fit and was extremely approachable with any questions or concerns I had. His openness has allowed me to keep the habit of asking questions and seeking wisdom from my administration and coworkers.
