As industries consider environmental impact as part of their business models, now is the perfect time to build your business expertise around your passion for the outdoors. There's no better place to do that than Vermont. Champlain is neighbor to leading organizations in outdoor industries, such as Burton and Darn Tough. From apparel and sports to recreation and tourism, the applications and industries supported by outdoor business are endless.

This Outdoor Business Minor provides a foundation in business skills and marketing while teaching students about up-and-coming innovations in the industry and the environmental impact of this work. A number of elective options are available to enhance students' interests in the environment through academic study and applied learning opportunities. This minor is appropriate for students from any academic discipline.

Upon completion of this minor you will:

  • apply business principles to organizations specializing in outdoor products or services, and
  • understand the potential positive impact of business in organizations specializing in outdoor products or services.

Business Foundation

All students must take:

Students must choose 1 innovation course:

Environment

Students must choose 1 environment course:

Marketing

Students must choose 1 marketing course:

EVT 315: Event Promotion and Sponsorship
