In addition to your practical experience in the Game Studio, you'll have plenty of opportunity to take internships that develop your skills and strengthen your résumé. Since you'll start learning game sound design from day one, you'll be a highly qualified candidate for internships by the end of your first year.
The Emergent Media Center (EMC) at Champlain College is a collaborative space where students can work on real client projects; past clients have included Eidos Montreal, Google Earth, Microsoft Games, and UVM Medical Center. The EMC employs a number of students every semester, offering an exciting chance to help create a new app, game, or other innovative tech enterprise that will be used in the "real world."
We want you to be well prepared for your first internship, externship, or other relevant fieldwork. After your first year of exploratory practical education, you'll be ready to work with your Career Advisor to take the next step.
Local and national employers turn to Champlain for college interns because they are better prepared to work in professional environments than the majority of their peers from other institutions. Many Champlain graduates receive full- and part-time job offers from the organizations where they first took their internships or externships.
