Key Library Services

Accessing an ebook from home? Looking to 3D print an object? You’ve come to the right place!

  • Champlain College students, faculty, and staff may borrow library materials including books, DVDs, electronics, and local attraction passes using their current Champlain College ID. Most books and DVDs, along with some electronics, have the option of renewal, though loan policies vary. Along with physical materials, the library offers a wide selection of online resources available both on and off campus through a Champlain username and password.

Champlain borrowers may renew eligible materials and view their due dates online. You may also renew materials by contacting us.

  • Through our reciprocal borrowing agreement, Champlain College students and employees may borrow books from University of Vermont’s Howe Library and St. Michael’s College’s Durick Library with their valid Champlain ID card. Please note that if you borrow books from University of Vermont or St. Michael’s College under this agreement, you will be subject to UVM or St. Michael’s circulation policies, including overdue fines and replacement fees. Go to Reciprocal Borrowing for more details and borrowing instructions.

  • If you are unable to find a book or journal article in the library’s collection, you can request this item to be borrowed from another library through interlibrary loan. Interlibrary loan allows Champlain College Library to borrow materials outside of our collections from other libraries on your behalf. You may request up to 5 items per day. Please allow 1 to 7 days processing time for articles and one to two weeks delivery time for books. Articles will be emailed to you. Items other than articles must be picked up at the Champlain College Library and cannot be mailed to you.

  • To ensure the library is providing print and online resources useful to academic courses, it is important that there is a mutually beneficial relationship between the library and faculty. Faculty are encouraged to request books for the library to strengthen its collection. They may also request a librarian facilitated instruction session on how to find and use resources for students before a project or paper. These sessions are typically helpful, engaging, and worth the time, as students get more use from the information outlets they have access to. The library offers a plethora of free and open valuable online resources, including eBooks, database articles, and streaming video which faculty are encouraged to implement in their lessons. To provide students with online links to these articles, you must use enhanced URLs which require a Champlain log-in to access the college-provided materials. Physical materials, including personal copies and existing library materials, may also be put on course reserve in the library for students to check out for up to three hours.

  • The library has public computers throughout the building as well as laptops available for in-library use. You may also rent out headphones, portable DVD players, white boards, and a Mac presentation adapter for use within the library. LCD TVs are located in the group study rooms which can be connected to personal computers for group projects or presentations. Printing is available on all floors of the library. Color printing is available on the first floor and scanning is available on the first and second floors. For more information, please consult the building description and directory.

  • If you are a Champlain College Neighbor, you may borrow library materials with your current Champlain College Neighbor ID. Alumni and guests may also be eligible for borrowing privileges. Those that fit into these categories are responsible for all items charged out to their card. Renewing is possible if books are brought back into the library and the book does not have a hold on it. If you are a neighbor who would like borrowing privileges, or, if you are an alumnus, guest, or have any other inquiries about library borrowing, please contact Sarah Camille Wilson, Head of Library Operations, at (802) 651-5935 or swilson@champlain.edu.

    • Requests can be made using this form. Please allow a minimum turnaround time of 48 hours (Monday-Friday) for your request to be filled.
    • If the item you are requesting scans from is currently checked out to another patron, this will impact the turnaround time.
    • Please note that fulfillment must comply with copyright and fair use guidelines.
      • This service is provided for the purpose of private study and research.
      • Only 10% of a book (one or two chapters) can be scanned.
      • Only one article from a single issue of a journal or periodical can be scanned.
      • If your request exceeds the above, you may be asked to provide more information in order to make a fair use determination.
