A career is something you create. So is a meaningful life, for that matter. Our rigorous career-focused learning model provides you with the tools and opportunities you need to build a profession doing what you love—as well as the critical skills you should acquire to meet life’s challenges with flexibility and strength.

Get ready for professionally focused courses on DAY ONE with our Upside-Down Curriculum. By working on real projects earlier, you’ll be ready for meaningful internships sooner than your peers at other institutions.

Our Core curriculum is a key part of how Champlain uniquely prepares you for success. Our rigorous Core courses are designed to transform you into a creative, entrepreneurial, and global thinker.

This is the program everyone else wishes they had in school—and you can’t get it anywhere but Champlain. The mandatory, four-year InSight program helps you gain skills in three areas essential to living an effective life: Career Positioning, Financial Literacy, and Wellness.

Learn by Doing

Our career-focused programs allow you to begin taking major-specific courses at the beginning of your studies so that you are well-prepared for internships as early as the summer after your first year. In 2023, 61% of internships held by Champlain students were paid; 39% were for credit. Our Career Collaborative will help you land internships that will give you resume-building experience—and possibly, a full-time job offer. Happens all the time.

Starting in your first year, you can land a job in one of our Centers of Experience, which are dedicated spaces where you’ll take what you learn in the classroom and put it into action. Get involved in research on the Internet of Things at the Leahy Center for Digital Investigation, or work on a game for a client in the Emergent Media Center. Each Center of Experience has a distinct identity that connects Champlain to the greater Burlington community and the world through its specific focus.

Champlain’s Studio Experiences are a signature academic feature of Champlain’s distinctive career-focused educational approach. Students who are a part of Studio Experiences work together in professional teams that mirror real-world industry practices and develop industry-specific skills and experiences. In the Game Studio or Creative Studio, you’re learning will be multidisciplinary, collaboration-dependent, experimental, and guided by expert faculty.

Study Abroad

In addition to our campus in Burlington, Vermont, we have two state-of-the-art academic centers: one in Dublin, Ireland, and the other in Montreal, Canada. At either of our international centers, you can take required courses in your major and even land an internship. When you study abroad in Montreal or Dublin, or one of our exchange programs in Scotland, New Zealand, or the Netherlands, your financial aid scholarships transfer to your semester or year abroad.
