How to Submit Your Housing Application

  Living on campus is a rich, rewarding experience and an important part of your Champlain education. Life in the residence halls will help you connect outside the classroom, while the convenient campus location — just a short walk from Downtown Burlington and the waterfront — ensures that you have ready access to the shops and services of Vermont’s largest city. In addition to the descriptions below, be sure to review our Residential Life FAQs for answers to important housing-related questions.

  Residence Hall Styles

  • Victorian-Era Mansions // Once occupied by some of Burlington’s most prominent citizens, our restored Victorian-era mansion residence halls house all first-year students.
  • Returning Student Housing // For your second and third years, many students choose to continue to live in our on-campus Victorian-era mansions; some choose our other residential housing options:
    • Contemporary // Our contemporary, suite-style accommodations are right on or within walking distance from our Main Campus.
    • Apartment-Style // We have deluxe apartments just a few blocks away, with shuttles running from early morning to late at night.
• Submit Your Enrollment Deposit.

  To confirm your nonrefundable enrollment and reserve your place as a full-time student at Champlain College, please go to your Application Dashboard account to accept your offer of admission and submit your deposit.

  Step 1. Log in to your Champlain Applicant Portal

  If you have a Champlain Applicant Portal account:

  • Log in to the Applicant Portal.
  • Don’t remember your password? No problem. You can request a new one (be sure to use the same email address you used when you applied).

  If you do not already have a Champlain Applicant Portal account:

  • Create one here using the same email address you used when you applied.

  Step 2. Accept Offer & Pay Enrollment Deposit

  Once you are logged in to the Champlain Applicant Portal:

  • If you have not already viewed your Admissions decision letter on the Applicant Portal, click on the golden envelope.
  • At the bottom of the screen, click the green “Reply to Offer,” then “Accept Offer,” and “Pay by Credit Card.” (You can also opt to “Pay Later,” but please be mindful of your specific deposit due date.)
  • If you previously viewed your Admissions decision letter on the Applicant Portal and opted to click “Pay Later,” you may now select “Pay My Deposit” and follow the screen prompts to submit your deposit by credit card.

  Your $500 nonrefundable deposit is due as follows:

  • Early Decision admissions: Submit your deposit by January 6, 2027.
  • Early Action admissions: Submit your deposit within three weeks after admittance.
  • Regular Decision admissions: Submit your deposit by May 1 or within three weeks of the date on your admit letter, whichever is later. Your enrollment deposit will be applied to your Fall 2027 tuition payment.
  • Transfer Student admissions: Submit your deposit within three weeks of the date on your admit letter. Students who submit their deposit by June 15 are guaranteed housing.

  The $500 nonrefundable deposit will be credited to your fall semester tuition payment.

• Complete Your Housing Application

  Available as Early as March 1

  Before you can complete your Housing Application, you must activate your Champlain College Student Account if you have not done so already. Please note that it can take two to three days after activating your Champlain College Student Account before you can access our online housing tool, The Housing Director (THD).

  The First-Year Housing Application will be available as early as March 1. The deadline for submitting both your housing application and roommate requests is June 1.

  If you believe you qualify for an exemption from the three-year residency requirement, exemption requests (with documentation) are due June 1 for fall enrollment.

  If you have been admitted after June 1, please go to The Housing Director (THD) as soon as you can after you submit your enrollment deposit and activate your Champlain College Student Account (steps can be found above in the Activate Your Champlain College Student Account section).

  • If your Champlain College Student Account is activated, visit The Housing Director (THD), our online housing tool. Select the “New Students” option and log in using your Champlain College Student Account username and password. (Your username is your firstname.lastname.)
    • Having trouble logging in? Here are a few things to check:
      • Be sure to use the “New Students” option
      • If you’re logged into a personal Gmail account, log out of Gmail
      • Try a different browser
      • If you continue to experience issues, contact Housing & Residential Life by email (reslife@champlain.edu) or by phone at (802) 860-2704
  • Once logged in, you will be taken to the Housing home page. Click on “Applications” from the drop-down menu and select “First-Year Housing Application.”
  • Provide an electronic signature for the Main Campus Housing Agreement and click “Continue.”
  • Complete the “My Information” portion of the Housing Application, indicating the choices that best suit your lifestyle. Click “Continue.”
  • Add your Living Requests to rank your top three building preferences. Click “Continue” to submit your form.

  Can I edit my form after I submit it?

  Yes! You may edit your Housing Application as much as you wish before June 1. There is no downside to editing the form; the more information we have, the better we’ll be able to pair you with your new roommates!

  What happens if I don’t comply with the three-year residency requirement?

  All students are required to live on campus for their first three years of enrollment. Students without an approved exemption who live off campus will be assessed a non-compliance fee equivalent to the cost of a standard room for that semester, and a hold may be placed on their student records.

  How do I find and select a roommate?

  Students have the option to find and identify one or more incoming students they would like to live with, or the Residential Life team will assign you one or more roommates based on your Housing Preference Form.

  Search for a Roommate

  You can do that within THD as well! In fact, you’ll be able to create a personal roommate profile and search for other students with similar interests. Individuals who wish to live together must both select one another. Roommate matching is available through June.

  To find and select roommates:

  • Complete a Roommate Profile by selecting the “Personal Information” tab from the menu of the Housing home page, then click “Roommate Profile.” (Maintain the default setting “Profile Privacy: Display my information and my profile” to enable roommate selection.)
  • Add your Contact Information and fill out the My Profile section so that other students can learn more about you. Then click “Update Roommate Profile.”
  • To search for a roommate, select “Room Selection” from the menu, then “Select Roommates.”
  • Change the Term to “Fall 2027.”
  • Use the “Search for Roommate” section to identify other students with lifestyle choices and interests similar to your own. Students who meet your search requirements will be displayed.
  • Students who have already identified a roommate can search for that individual using the “First Name” and “Last Name” fields. (Only students who submitted a Housing Application will appear in the results.)

  You may contact any students you would like to connect with before requesting them as a roommate. Their preferred contact information is in their profile. When you’ve selected the individual(s) you would like to live with, click “Request Roommate.” After a request is sent, the other student must confirm or cancel the request. Once a confirmation is complete, you’re done!

  What if I don’t know/ haven’t found anyone I want to room with?

  If you do not know anyone you wish to room with, Housing and Residential Life will use the information provided on your Housing application to match you with one or more students who have similar likes and living styles.

  Housing assignments will be made by August 1 and will appear on your THD home page.

• Submit Housing Accommodations Form (if applicable).

  Champlain College students with documented disabilities may request appropriate and reasonable housing accommodations within the context of current housing policies. If you are in need of housing accommodations, please submit the appropriate accommodations forms by June 1.

  Upon receipt of a completed Housing Accommodations Request Form, a staff member will be in touch to discuss your needs.
