Aiken Hall

Aiken Hall was renovated to accommodate the Core Division of Champlain College. This interdisciplinary general education Division includes the following elements:

  • Faculty offices and administrative spaces
  • Morgan Room:  meeting, lecture and event space
  • Lobby/Anteroom: central space that promotes student/faculty interaction

Aiken hall was built circa 1885 as a private residence in the Queen Anne style. The building is listed on the Vermont Register of Historic Sites and is a significant part of the Historic Hill Section neighborhood developed from the 1870s to the early 1900s.

The project involved interior renovation to restore much of the original fabric that remained while improving the energy efficiency and building envelope.

Aiken Hall was awarded LEED Gold Certification for New Construction.
