| Fun Fact About Me | I had 3.5 years of winter without a summer (by choice!) as I chased snow between Utah and New Zealand. I managed to ride my snowboard 200 days per year and loved every minute of it. |

Nic is the AVP of Planning and Operations. He helps the Campus Operations teams of Facilities (buildings and grounds), Campus Services (Foodservice, Custodial, Transportation, Campus Store, Mail Center and other services), Sustain Champlain and the Conference and Event Center create world class places and services for our students, employees and visitors. He also manages all long range planning and construction projects at the college.
Nic has been at Champlain since 2014, previously working in the City of Burlington Zoning Office. He gained a Bachelor of Resource Studies, Majoring in Planning from Lincoln University, New Zealand in 2002. Nic moved to the United States in 2003 and has lived in Utah, New York state and Vermont ever since. He earned a Master of Science in Human Relations and Organization Development from Champlain College in 2020 (what a year to do a masters degree…thanks Covid).
Nic lives in South Burlington (a short bike ride away, regardless of the season) with his wife Amy and two children Sage and Cora. We proudly bike to work and school every day of the year, yes even in deep winter.
Nic loves riding bikes (any kind), snowboarding and playing golf. He is also excited to do almost any outdoor activity. Is drinking coffee a hobby?
The dirt roads of the Vermont countryside are some of the best places to ride a bike in the world.

Kate Cronin is the Assistant Director of Campus Operations. Hers is a multifaceted role that includes oversight of campus services – Champlain Dining, Campus Store, Mail Center, Transportation, Sustain Champlain, custodial services as well as oversight of furnishings, furniture procurement, signage, and the College’s rented spaces and retail tenants.
In addition, Kate assists with project management for space planning, space conversion, and building renovations.
When she is not at work, Kate enjoys long walks and short runs with her dog Rudder, travel in any iteration, and trying to keep current on the comings and goings of her three almost adult children, Alden, McKenna, and Liam.
Kate has been working at Champlain College since 2017, enjoys the community and is fully engaged with the great work the Campus Operations and Planning team does as well as the mission of “team Champlain”.

Hallie Pixley is the Sustainable Transportation Coordinator with Campus Operations, where she passionately advocates for biking and active transportation. A 2024 graduate of Champlain College, Hallie holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies and Policy. Her dedication to promoting sustainable transportation solutions is driven by her commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being.
Hallie loves biking, skiing, playing guitar, going to see live music, and painting/drawing (as well as most things involving the great outdoors).
Nothing beats The Grey Jay’s shakshuka followed by a bike ride down the Colchester Causeway!

Edward Schlak is a Champlain College Alum of the class of 2013 graduating with a degree in Secondary Education. After graduation Edward spent several years working for the USPS as a Mail Carrier as well as managing shipping and receiving for other institutions. He returned to Champlain in 2021 as the Mail Center Coordinator managing a team of student workers who process all incoming and outgoing deliveries for the college. In his spare time he enjoys disc golf and gardening.
