Many schools offer degrees in either Environmental Studies or Science, but Champlain's Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies & Policy is one of very few degree programs of its kind in the country. This program gives students the knowledge to take a systems-based approach to understanding the human and institutional actions that can improve environmental, economic, and social issues.
By focusing less on theory and more on the actions that can be taken to create change, you'll develop the skills to transform institutions and human behavior.
Through our action-oriented education and the plethora of practical experiences you'll have through internships and fieldwork, you will be ready to start your career after graduation and make real change—something you'll already be used to.
In addition to the extensive career-focused programs and support offered College-wide, each of Champlain's career-focused majors features learning opportunities and programs that help our students create highly marketable résumés. Highlights include:
Considering graduate school after you earn your bachelor's degree? Champlain College has an agreement with Vermont Law School—the country's premier school for environmental law—which facilitates admission for Champlain students who meet certain criteria. This is an ideal option if you'd like to advance your career by continuing your environmental policy studies.
In fact, 100% of our 2019 Environmental Studies & Policy graduates are employed or continuing their education within six months after graduating.
Future job placement prospects for Environmental Studies & Policy graduates are solid. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that by 2024, careers for environmental specialists will grow 11%—faster than average for all occupations.
Champlain's Career Collaborative team surveys alumni six months after graduation to find out how job searches are going. The College-wide results below are based on an outstanding 91% response rate—significantly higher than most post-graduation college surveys.
Our graduates are thriving; their Champlain education prepared them with real-world experience that sets them apart in their field.
