A lot has changed since Champlain College was established in 1878, but our goal has remained the same: to prepare our students for successful lives and rewarding careers in promising fields.
At Champlain, we know what it's like to be working toward an immediate goal and, at the same time, planning your long game. You've been working on building your skills, exploring your interests, and figuring out the direction you want to go.
Now that you're ready to transfer colleges (or thinking about it), we'll help you take the next step toward your future—you're closer than you think to the career of your dreams.
We understand that the application process for transfer students differs from that of first time students. We have dedicated professionals to help you with the transfer application, transfer credit questions, the decision to start in the spring or fall, financial aid information, and much more.
While it can feel daunting to "start over" when you transfer to a new college, here, you become an important part of our welcoming family. As a transfer student, you'll also become an integral member in a community of educators, artists, entrepreneurs, thinkers, makers, and doers—both on campus and in the greater Burlington area.
Surround yourself with classmates who get it. Our transfer students all have different backgrounds, majors, and reasons for transferring to Champlain, but they'll all understand where you're coming from.
You may opt to live with other transfer students in Lakeview Hall, where you'll have a built-in community of friends who know what it's like to come to Champlain after starting college somewhere else. In a central location across the street from the main campus, Lakeview Hall features the bright, open green space of Finney Quad as its front yard. From its back windows, you get an amazing view of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains.
The Residential Life staff who live in Lakeview Hall will be an excellent source of support and guidance. They'll facilitate transfer-specific events throughout the year that are designed to help ease your academic and social transition to Champlain.
Transfer students who are admitted for the fall semester are guaranteed housing as long as they submit their deposit by July 15. Transfer students starting in the spring semester are guaranteed housing if they deposit by December 15.
Champlain is a test-optional school. What does that mean to you as an applicant? If you would like us to consider your standardized test scores, by all means, feel free to include them with your submitted application. Conversely, if you would rather us consider your application without them, we are happy to do that as well. Learn more...
