What is a maker lab you may ask? A maker lab or 'makerspace', as they're sometimes called, is a place where people share tools and knowledge to make almost anything. That's the simple answer. In practice, they are spaces where people from across disciplines evolve ideas and collaborate on projects at the intersection of art, technology and entrepreneurship.
At the Champlain College MakerLab our students, faculty, staff and alumni have access to 3D printers, a 3D scanner, a laser cutter, a vinyl cutter, two large format photo printers, a high-end sewing machine and a wide-array of more traditional hand and power tools. We also have an electronics lab where you can learn about and use micro-controllers like the Arduino and Raspberry Pi. These as well as sensors, motors and other electronics are available for checkout. And, thanks to a partnership with Generator, a makerspace in downtown Burlington, Champlain students can access even more tools. Contact email@example.com for more information.
