Pre-Application

Eligibility

Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students before beginning the semester abroad or summer program. Students need to be in good academic standing and have a minimum GPA of 2.75 (or 3.0 for 3rd Party and Exchange Programs) and a record of strong participation as a college and community citizen.

Every major has the ability to study abroad at Champlain. However, depending on your major, spring or fall semester will align better with your curriculum.

Application Process

The Champlain Abroad application process is designed to be straightforward and simple, and the application can be completed mostly online. All students are required to meet with a Study Abroad Coordinator as part of the application process.

Schedule an appointment or drop by the Study Abroad Office.

Visit champlain.terradotta.com and set up an account using your Champlain mymail. Select your desired semester and complete all required steps on the dashboard. This will include requirements such as two faculty references, filling out a signature verification form in our office, meeting with one of our study abroad coordinators, and learning content. Get step-by-step instructions.

Please note that the Champlain Abroad office operates on a rolling admission basis. We encourage students to submit their application sooner rather than later.

Once on the website, complete these steps:

  1. Select “LOGIN” and the “CREATE ACCOUNT” option.
  2. Fill out the displayed and required information.
    • Remember to use your Champlain email address!
  3. Select “Find Program” to advance toward creating an application.
  4. In the “Program Name” section, enter the name of the program that you’re interested in, (for example, “Dublin.”) Once you’ve entered the name of the program, select “Search”
  5. Results should appear on the screen. Select the program you are interested in applying for.
  6. Next, click on “Apply Now.
  7. If you are a first time user, click on “I do not have login credentials to this site” and click “Submit.”
  8. Choose “I am registered at Champlain” and “Submit.” You will then be asked to create an account with your information.
  9. After you’ve created an account, an email will be sent to you containing a temporary username and password.
  10. Check your email for the temporary username and password and click the provided link in your email to login.
  11. Select “I have login credential to this site that I received by email” and “Submit.”
  12. After logging in, click on “Home” and it will take you to a page to answer security questions.
  13. Complete the security questions. When finished, click “Update.” You will then be asked to create a permanent username and password.
  14. Once you change your username and password, you will return to the program and search for the program of interest.
  15. Select “Apply” and apply for your desired program. Make sure that you complete your signature verification form as soon as possible.

It is important to note that there are differing steps in the application process depending on which program you are pursuing. However, there are certain steps of the process that everyone will have to complete, such as getting faculty recommendations, meeting with one of our study abroad coordinators, and filling out a signature verification form in our office.
