Exchange Programs

Beyond our campus borders at home and abroad, you can study at one of our partner institutions around the world, spending a semester or full year immersed in another culture as an exchange student.

General Exchange Information

Champlain’s Exchange partner programs complement the Champlain Abroad Montreal and Dublin campuses by offering students additional study abroad venues at a diverse pool of exchange program locations. Exchange courses and programs are offered in English.

  • Students must meet these requirements to be eligible for an Exchange program:

    • 3.0 GPA (higher than for Montreal or Dublin)
    • Good Academic Standing
    • Good standing with Champlain Community
  • Students maintain institutional financial aid and pay as if they are at Champlain for tuition while paying local prices for housing, food and transportation. Exchange program students receive institutional financial aid as well as International healthcare premiums while studying abroad. Upon acceptance, you may have an adjustment to your financial aid package to reflect your exact semester abroad costs. Students interested in an exchange program who need financial assistance are encouraged to look into Champlain Abroad Scholarship opportunities. Pell Grant recipients are strongly encouraged to apply to the Gilman grant, a scholarship that provides an average of $4000 to selected students to study abroad.

  • Courses taken with an Exchange partner are earning transfer credits through that university, that is reflected in a student’s transcript. Students must earn a US grade of C or better to earn credit, classes taken with an Exchange are pass/fail. In order for a class to be usable credit, it must be approved by Champlain College. This may have financial aid and credit consequences if students end up taking an unapproved course.

  • Note that our exchange programs courses may overlap with Champlain College Semesters and courses depending on location and partner. Champlain students are only able to partake in programs a semester or longer. Here are the dates to turn in your application at Champlain for our exchange programs,

    Fall 2025 and Spring 2026: March 1, 2025
