Thomas Mann is Interim Dean of the Division of Information Technology & Science. He brings to Champlain College thirteen years' administrative experience as chief academic officer at Graceland University (Iowa) and West Virginia Wesleyan College and ten years as President/CEO of Davis & Elkins College (West Virginia). He also served as Interim Provost at Cabrini College in Philadelphia. Prior to assuming administrative responsibilities, he was a full-time faculty member for twelve years.
As an integral part of his U.S. education, Mann studied at the University of Freiburg and the Free University of Berlin in Germany and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the University of Zurich in Switzerland. He taught in the public schools in Munich as a Fulbright Exchange Teacher. His commitment to international education led him to incorporate study abroad into the undergraduate curriculum and to lead undergraduate study groups to Hungary and Bulgaria.
In addition to global education, Mann counts strategic planning, assessment of student learning, and institutional/specialized accreditation among his special academic interests. He has served as a consultant/evaluator with the Higher Learning Commission based in Chicago since 1992.
