Internships

As a professionally focused institution, Champlain emphasizes the value of getting as much time in the field as possible. We go to great lengths to create the best options for our students to do so.If you have the drive, we will work with you extensively to help you find—or create—an internship that will give you a chance to really dig into the work of your profession, build up your professional portfolio and capture impressive credentials for your resume.

Champlain has established close ties with the local business community, and Champlain students are the interns of choice at numerous businesses in and around Vermont, including (among many others):

In fact, many local companies seek out interns from Champlain year after year and frequently turn to our graduates when looking to fill a full-time job vacancy.

Why Our Interns Are In Demand

Our professionally focused programs align closely with specific professions—and because our Upside-Down Curriculum allows you to take courses in your major beginning with your first semester at Champlain, you will be prepared to do productive work in an internship in your field as early as the summer after your freshman year. Having an established professional skill set upon which you can build will set you apart from others when it comes to securing an internship—which, like the overall job market, is becoming increasingly competitive.

Many companies in the Burlington area favor candidates for internships from Champlain College because our students invariably arrive prepared and eager to learn. To be an exceptional intern, you need know-how, and at Champlain we begin teaching you the skills of your professional immediately.

"A few years ago, I had a Champlain undergrad working with me as an intern. He was an exceptional student, an exceptional coworker and I was tremendously impressed with him. In fact, I have to say that over the last few years, I've made it a practice to raid Champlain's ranks for interns and employees. I just hired someone else from Champlain, and I also consider him to be an exceptional worker."
