To help with the academic transition and to move ahead in Champlain's curriculum, all transfer students with more than 12 credits (who enter in the fall or spring semesters) are required to attend a transfer Summer Bridge Program on-campus from Monday, July 1-Friday, Aug. 9, 2013.
The benefits of Summer Bridge are abundant, and for the first few days the information students receive during the Summer Bridge Orientation on June 30 should help answer any lingering questions and prepare them for their summer in Burlington.
Benefits of the Summer Bridge Program include:
Orientation begins Sunday, June 30 with check-in for residential and commuter students. After a luncheon with a special welcome from Core Dean Betsy Beaulieu, students will meet fellow classmates and play Games on the Green on Champlain's Aiken Lawn. Other activities include a trip to local arcade, Pizza Putt, before beginning classes and meeting the student life team and other services on-campus.
"The Summer Bridge program is a wonderful experience for any transferring student," said Breanna Bonner '11. "I got a really amazing look at what the Core is all about before I came in the fall. It absolutely smoothed my transition into Champlain College. Living on campus for three weeks of my summer allowed me to get familiar with the area and the campus before the rush of people in the fall. I got to experience what the Core classes were all about and met a lot of really amazing people. Even though I had to go to class it was still like a vacation. I got to live on my own in an amazing residential hall, live in one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, and after class was over I went to the beach."
