Professor Morris left a successful corporate career to fulfill a life-long dream of sharing her passion of accounting with students in the classroom. Professor Morris graduated from Siena College in Loudonville, NY and grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY. Since graduation, she has held several positions, including senior auditor for KPMG and controller for a local credit union. After obtaining her CPA license, Professor Morris spent five years in various positions of increasing responsibility in the Finance Department at IDX Systems Corporation, which was acquired GE Healthcare during her tenure. Her positions centered around the implementation of Sarbanes Oxley, software revenue recognition, managing system conversions and Six Sigma process improvement. During her time at GE Healthcare, she obtained her MBA from Marist College, located in Poughkeepsie, NY. In September, 2008 she joined the Accounting faculty at Champlain College. During her time at Champlain College, her academic experience includes classroom and online teaching of undergraduate and graduate accounting courses, undergraduate business/management courses, as well as curriculum development.
Professor Morris is a dedicated and committed member of the CPA profession. Locally, she is a member of the Vermont State Society of CPAs. On a national level, she was selected as one of twenty-eight young professionals from across the country to attend the inaugural AICPA leadership academy in the summer of 2009 and continues her commitment with the AICPA. In 2017, Professor Morris received two local honors. The first was the Vermont Business Magazine Rising Star award. Award recipients are selected by a panel of judges for their commitment to business growth, professional excellence and involvement in their communities and each year 40 winners under the age of 40 are selected. Later in the same year, Professor Morris was honored as a Woman to Watch by the Vermont State Society of CPAs. This award recognized VTCPA members who have made outstanding contributions to the accounting profession, their community, place of employment and/or to the development of women as leaders.
Outside of work Professor Morris is devoted to her wonderful family, her community, and her commitment to lifelong learning. She and her husband have been blessed with three beautiful children. They enjoy the outdoors as much as possible, exploring all there is to love about Vermont.
