International Business Major

Ready to get started?   Apply now!

Do you thrive on traveling and broadening your perspective? Aim to get involved in local and global communities? Dream of problem-solving across borders? If so, a major in International Business might be the right path for you.

As an International Business major, you'll work on collaborative teams, identify global target-market opportunities and challenges, develop import-export strategies, and build short- and long-term business plans for global growth.

Doing business in a global economy requires more than traveling around the globe. It means learning about the cultural, political, and technological forces that shape the business world.

Why Major in International Business at Champlain College?

The Bachelor of Science program in International Business from Champlain's Robert P. Stiller School of Business emphasizes ethical business practices within the rapidly changing contexts of globalization. Through a comprehensive approach to project-based learning led by expert faculty, you will increase your cultural literacy and reframe your perspective of the world.

Through coursework and customized projects, you'll be able to select an economic region of the world and gain specific expertise in that region. You'll acquire a deep and practical knowledge base on the culture, language, economies, and political structures that define the business environments of your chosen region of focus.

Using our learn-by-doing approach, you'll be immersed in professional global experiences, giving you great insight into the realities of global commerce. Champlain's Upside-Down Curriculum starts you in your International Business classes on day one, giving you four years to develop skills and build your experiential background.

You'll have plenty of opportunities to live in other countries, studying and interning through our industry partnerships abroad.

  • Champlain's Montreal campus is in the heart of Montreal, Canada—one of the world's top tech hubs and a key player in the global market.
  • Our campus in Dublin is an ideal setting. Dublin is not only the political and tech capital of Ireland, but a growing haven for European tech start-ups and all kinds of internationally focused businesses.
  • Through exchange partnerships and third-party programs, you'll be able to live and study in countries all over the world.
  • Faculty-led travel courses and service-learning trips provide shorter excursions to a variety of locales. These are excellent opportunities to enhance your global experience.

The International Business program also offers you flexible elective credits, so you can customize your degree, add a minor, and create highly specialized skills that set you apart as a job candidate. Burlington, Vermont, serves as an amazing home base, allowing you to work with dynamic international businesses like Burton Snowboards, Ben & Jerry's, Seventh Generation, and more.

With a Champlain degree in International Business, you'll be poised to attain key global positions with influential companies, government departments, multinational firms, and humanitarian organizations.

Take On a Summer Business Internship in Asia

For a number of years, the Robert P. Stiller School of Business has received an exclusive grant from the Freeman Foundation, allowing students to travel to Asia to complete a summer internship at very little cost to the student. The two primary destinations are Shanghai, China, and Kyoto, Japan, in addition to opportunities in other countries.

This opportunity has been invaluable to our International Business students, providing the chance to gain global work experience, as well as cultural and language skills.
