New tuition commitments for students entering Fall 2027 — wherever you call home.
Champlain College is making a new commitment to incoming first-year and transfer students entering in Fall 2027: your first-year Champlain tuition and fees, after grants and scholarships, will be capped at a clear, published benchmark. Vermont residents are matched to UVM’s 2027-2028 in-state rate. Out-of-state first-year and transfer students are capped at $30,000. Whichever applies to you, the commitment works the same way.
For Vermont Residents
The Champlain Flagship Award
If you begin at Champlain as a new first-year or transfer student in Fall 2027, your Champlain tuition and fees — after grants and scholarships — will be no more than UVM’s published 2027–2028 Vermont resident undergraduate tuition and Comprehensive Fee.
The Champlain Flagship Award
How it works
We first apply your grants and scholarships to your Champlain tuition. If your remaining Champlain tuition is higher than UVM’s 2027–2028 tuition and Comprehensive Fee, Champlain will provide a Champlain Flagship Award to close the difference. If your other grants and scholarships already bring your Champlain tuition to that level, you will not receive an additional Flagship Award. This award applies to Champlain tuition and fees only; housing, food, books, supplies, insurance, transportation, and other costs are not included.
Who qualifies
Vermont residents admitted as a new first-year or qualifying transfer student for Fall 2027, enrolling full-time.
Completion of the FAFSA is required.
Important notes
- Your Champlain Flagship Award amount is calculated once, based on your first year, and remains a fixed dollar amount for all four years. It renews automatically each year at that same amount, as long as you’re enrolled full-time and maintain a 2.5 GPA.
- This commitment establishes your first-year net cost relative to UVM’s published rate. Because the award is a fixed dollar amount and both institutions’ tuition and fees may change independently after your first year, we cannot guarantee your net cost will stay at or below UVM’s rate in years two through four.
- Your merit aid, including this award, is protected under Champlain’s Count On It Guarantee: your merit award will not decrease for as long as you remain enrolled full-time and meet renewal requirements.
- This commitment is for up to four consecutive academic years, or until graduation, whichever occurs first.
For Out-of-State Students
The Champlain Access Award
If you begin at Champlain as a new first-year or transfer student in Fall 2027, your first-year Champlain tuition and fees — after grants and scholarships — will be no more than $30,000.

We first apply your grants and scholarships to your Champlain tuition. If your remaining Champlain tuition is higher than $30,000, Champlain will provide a Champlain Access Award to close the difference. If your other grants and scholarships already bring your Champlain tuition to $30,000 or below, you will not receive an additional award. This award applies to Champlain tuition and fees only; housing, food, books, supplies, insurance, transportation, and other costs are not included.
Who qualifies
Non-Vermont residents admitted as a new first-year or qualifying transfer student for Fall 2027, enrolling full-time.
Completion of the FAFSA is required.
