What could be more fun than spending part of your Winter Break in Vermont?

Not much.

Spend your February break in Vermont's winter wonderland and take in the beautiful, snowy view of the Adirondacks, Green Mountains and Lake Champlain. Whether you're exploring the boutiques and restaurants on Church Street or cutting trails in Vermont's snow, there's plenty to do this season for everyone.

While you're here, take the time to check out the wonderful colleges in the Burlington, Vermont, area. We've had so many students coming to visit our campus during their winter break that we created a special Winter Open House event. It’s one of our favorite annual events, and we'd love you to join us for it.

Not all schools are created equal.

We do things differently here.

At Champlain, you'll experience small class sizes and professors who are 100% dedicated to giving you the best possible education. We're not talking textbooks and lectures. We're talking hands-on practical learning from professors who have extensive industry experience in their fields. They bring their expertise into the classroom and get you out into the real world learning from your own experiences as soon as possible.

Our innovative Upside-Down Curriculum gets you started in the classes that matter most to you—beginning in your very first semester, so you can start internships as early as the summer after your first year.

An award-winning college focused entirely on your success

There's no doubt that our approach is one of the reasons that, year after year, we appear in the most prestigious college ranking guides. Some of our recent accolades include:

  • The Princeton Review's 2018 "The Best 382 Colleges," and 2016 "Guide to 361 Green Colleges"
  • A "Most Innovative School" in U.S. News & World Report's 2018 "America's Best Colleges" regional rankings
  • One of the "best and most interesting schools" in the United States, Canada and Great Britain, according to the Fiske Guide to Colleges for 2018
  • 2018 College of Distinction for "excellence in undergraduate education," according to Colleges of Distinction.
  • "Top School for Video Game Design" in 2017 in The Princeton Review
  • #12 in the nation for our percentage of students studying abroad among leading colleges and universities by the Institute of International Education

To name a few.

Give perspective to your whole college search.

When you come to the Winter Open House, you'll begin to see for yourself the benefits of

  • an innovative, career-focused approach to higher education (our grads consistently land jobs in their field at rates higher than national averages);
  • faculty with extensive industry experience in the subject areas in which they teach;
  • a stunningly beautiful campus (we argue it's one of the most beautiful in the country);
  • a creative, ambitious and tight-knit community and outstanding student life activities, clubs and trips;
  • residence halls you can really call home (because they are actually houses—Victorian-era mansions to be specific).

It will give you a good benchmark for what to ask and look for as you visit other schools.

Get ready to discover the major difference of Champlain.

If you've been researching colleges, it's likely you already know that most lists of majors look more or less the same, with maybe a few that stand out from those you've seen nearly everywhere else.

When you look at Champlain College's list of majors, can you see what links them together? We'll spare you the suspense: Champlain's career-focused majors offer the greatest potential for future employment.

So on our list of majors you'll find some "traditional" fields, like Accounting, Communication and Social Work, and you'll find a bunch "non-traditional" majors, like Data Analytics, Computer Networking & Cybersecurity, Game Production Management, Creative Media, Professional Writing, Management & Innovation and Environmental Studies & Policy, that you would not likely have encountered anywhere else.

No matter which major you choose, your Champlain education will be anything but "typical." Here, there's no such thing.

Admitted students: You are invited, too!

We know, we know. You just can't WAIT to get to campus. Truly, this happens every year; our most eager students apply early, get their admission decisions as early as November, and our Admitted Student Day events feel like an eternity away. So, many of them come to our Winter Open House.

We can't blame them. We're a fun place to be, and, really, any excuse to come here is a good one.

During our Winter Open House, we would like to invite all admitted students (nope, you don't need to have deposited by that point if you want to attend) to join us for a special celebratory admitted student luncheon.

It will be a fun way to meet other admitted students, connect with faculty members, get to know some of our awesome staff and get yourself psyched for the big Admitted Student Day events in April (You don't want to miss attending one of those! Trust us. They are that good.)

No need to register for the luncheon. We KNOW who you are! We'll tell you where to go on campus when you arrive.

Sound good? We thought so.

We'd love to show and tell you so much more.
