Black Student Union

Description

Black Student Union (BSU) provides answers and consolation to questions and concerns for all students. We aim to foster a welcoming and supportive environment where students of color can freely share their opinions, ideas, and cultural heritage. We seek to enhance understanding and appreciation of the histories, cultures, and issues pertinent to students of color through educational events, cultural celebrations, and open, engaging dialogues. We are committed to advocating for and addressing issues that impact these students, striving to create a community that is inclusive and aware of diverse perspectives. Black Student Union wants to build a network between students of color on campus and the community around them by partnering with different BIPOC organizations for movie nights, youth Fridays, and more.

CHAMP

Description

CHAMP is a student-run organization that plans and hosts exciting and spirit-filled events on campus each semester. All students are welcome to participate in CHAMP meetings and to volunteer as staff for CHAMP events. As a member of CHAMP, you are an integral part of the planning process–from brainstorming ideas to decorating and event execution. This club serves as a driving force for student involvement and engaging events! Our biggest celebrations of the year include: Spirit Week, the Halloween Dance, Late Night Breakfast, the Snowball Dance, and Spring Meltdown.

Champlain College Dance Team

Description

The Champlain College Dance Team is a fun way for students to dance in college without the pressure of tryouts. We work on many fun and unique projects during the year and experiment with different dance styles. At the end of the year, there is an opportunity to perform at the annual Champlain College Dance Team (CCDT) Showcase, with original choreography from our members. We strive to have a positive and safe environment for everyone to be in their bodies comfortably while dancing.

Champlain College Esports

Description

Champlain Club/College Esports (CCE) is a student run club that looks to provide a space for gaming and esports for all Champlain students who are passionate about gaming culture. We look to push the limits of esports and engage all students in club events that are centered around social interaction, fun, and of course, gaming. Champlain College Esports: Splatoon

Description

CCE Splatoon is a part of the Champlain College Esports club. We compete in CCA (Collegiate Cephalopod Association), the largest collegiate Splatoon league in the US. We also host community outreach events for Splatoon and Non-Splatoon players.

Champlain Mathematics Club

Description

The Mathematics Club is for all students who are interested in mathematics and its applications to real life. We celebrate math, the joy that it can bring when you’re silly about it, and the positive impact it can have. Most of our meetings are explorations of strange or fun math topics. Every spring, we take students to The Hudson River Undergraduate Mathematics Conference, where they can give talks about any math-related topic they are passionate about. Champlain Ultimate Frisbee

Description

Champlain Ultimate Frisbee welcomes players of all skill levels to join weekly pick-up games. We’re happy to teach new players! Description

The Champlain Wargaming Club is a student-run organization dedicated to fostering a fun, inclusive, and strategic environment for tabletop gaming enthusiasts. Climb Champlain

Description

The Climbing Club has provided a great community to Champlain for many years and is a great space for students to relax and engage in something casually athletic. We go to indoor rock climbing gyms three times a week—Metro on Wednesday mornings and Sunday evenings, and Petra on Friday evenings. Gym accessibility is free (though you do need to pay for gear if you do not have it), and rides are provided.

Darkroom Photography Club

Description

The Darkroom Film Photography Club gives students a chance to explore the increasingly rare medium of analog photography. We meet weekly in Joyce 106, the campus darkroom, for students to stop by and learn how to shoot, develop, or print their own photographs. As an effort to make analog photography more accessible to students, we offer camera rentals, B&W film, photo-sensitive paper, and general advice. Additionally, this is a great space for those looking to explore experimental techniques.

Hearthlight Club

Description

Hearthlight is a live-action battle game that uses foam weapons for combat. We focus heavily on safety, inclusion, and (of course) fun! Each practice, we run various games, including twists on classic games like Capture the Flag. Plus, we host special events like tournaments, craft days, and others throughout the semester.

Include+

Description

Include+ hosts weekly gatherings for LGBTQ+ students and allies to come hang out, and monthly educational events to improve our understanding of LGBTQ+ topics (as well as possibly some additional activities on top of that). This club provides a safe, welcoming space for any student involved in the queer community. Some activities we have done at club meetings in the past include video games, board games, chess, PowerPoint presentation nights, pizza parties, and nail painting.

Los Dormant Volcanoes Improv Troupe

Description

We are Champlain College’s Improv Troupe! We hold auditions once per academic year near the start of the fall semester. Our style of improv performance is short-form comedy games. Description

Ski and Ride is an inclusive, community-building club for students interested in winter outdoor recreation. Our goal is to form a community in which people can learn to ski and ride in a safe and welcoming environment! Meet friends and form lasting memories with other Champlain students. We host events like general meetings, movie premieres, and shop nights. When the cold months bring snow, the club will transition to in-person, on-hill events, such as community ski days, learn-to-ski events, and our annual Rail Jam.

Stiller Women in Business is a group of students who are committed to giving women and other marginalized communities within the business world a safe space to hang out and talk about classes and other activities on campus. The Grind

Description

The Grind is an open mic coffee house that provides a safe space for people to express themselves through performance. The audience can relax, meet new people, and spend time with friends. Every Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 PM in Fireside Lounge, there is a player’s sheet; it’s first to sign-up, first to play. We have a sound system and an electric piano for acoustic music. There’s always snacks/coffee available. Our goals are to provide a safe environment for creative expression and creative community and to create an environment that develops and nurtures our performers.

Description

The Champlain College Volleyball Club is open to all students who want to play volleyball, regardless of athleticism or experience level. We hold weekly open gym sessions that focus on friendly, casual games, as well as weekly practices that focus on physical fitness and improvement. Women In Games

Description

Women In Games (W.I.G.) is a club that was created to show the value that women, femme-identifying, non-binary professionals, and allies hold within the Game Studio at Champlain College. By providing its members with access to technology, and conducting professional development workshops with keynote guest speakers, there is an elimination of any barriers that may be held within the industry. W.I.G. at Champlain College works with two organizations, Women in Games International (W.I.G.I.) as well as the Women In Games (W.I.G.) based out of the UK. Join W.I.G. to meet and collaborate with different students in an inclusive environment, as that is when the best ideas come together!

Womxn in Technology

Description

The Womxn in Technology Club offers a safe and supportive space for students who are considered minorities in the field of technology. While the club mainly focuses on the experiences of students who are minorities in regard to gender (female-identifying and gender non-conforming), all students are welcome. Diverse experiences and perspectives are what our club is all about!
