Visitors are required to obtain a temporary visitor permit prior to visiting. This permit can be obtained by the Champlain employee hosting the guest using tocite.net/champlain/portal/permit or by emailing parking@champlain.edu three days prior to the visit.

Getting a Visitor Permit

  • Please email parking@champlain.edu at least three days prior to your guest to request a visitor permit. Please include in that email your guests’ vehicle information (license plate number, state, and make of the vehicle), the dates of the visit, your residence hall location and anticipated parking needs. If during the week and for multiple days, parking will be at Lakeside Avenue. If over the weekend or limited to one night, parking will be around Main Campus. Depending on availability or events, parking may not be directly adjacent to your residence hall but we will work to make it as close as possible.

  • To obtain a day-use visitor permit for your guest, visit tocite.net/champlain/portal and log in to your account.

Once logged in, select “View Permits” and then choose “Visitor.” You will be prompted to select the date the permit should be valid for and enter your guest’s vehicle information, including the license plate number, state of registration, and vehicle make.

After successfully registering the vehicle, you will receive a confirmation email with the permit details. Your guest will then be all set to park for the day that the permit is valid.

Where can visitors park?

Visitors may park in any lot that their temporary parking permit allows. If the parking permit is not specific to a lot, visitors may park in any pay-per-use lot or on any street. Keep in mind that there are some lots that are restricted for certain uses only. Pay attention to signs at each lot or space. You can also view this Google Map to see valid general visitor parking locations. Simply select the “Visitor” layer on the map to view available parking areas.

A Champlain Transportation Google Map is available that shows all parking locations as well as an accessibility layer that shows the exact location of all disabled parking spaces and access routes on campus. There is also an official accessibility map.

Perry Hall/West Hall lot is for visitors to the Admissions Office ONLY. Visitors to Admissions must display an Admissions office temporary visitor permit, which can be obtained at the front desk inside Perry Hall. No other visitors, employees, or students should park in Perry Hall/West Hall Lot.

Temporary Personal Permit

Students and employees who wish to obtain permits for themselves due to extenuating circumstances should still email parking@champlain.edu at least three days before the temporary permit is needed.

If there is an emergency or special circumstance on the day, please call Parking at 802-865-5496 or Public Safety at 802-865-6465 with a vehicle description and location, so that the vehicle will not be ticketed.
