Film Minor

WHY MINOR IN FILM?

Students in the Filmmaking minor have the opportunity to engage in many areas of film, such as screenwriting, directing, cinematography, editing, film history, film theory, motion graphics, producing, and sonic arts.

There are many paths a student can take to tailor the minor to serve alongside their major and to discover which path aligns with their passions. With the latest technology, students are immersed in real-world experiences that can support their skills in any division. With excellent instruction and the versatility of motion pictures, students can apply the knowledge they receive in the Filmmaking program to a variety of career paths in social media, business, and nonprofits.

Upon completion of this minor, you will be able to:

  • Collaborate as a member or leader of a filmmaking team;
  • Analyze one's own interests and skills in the context of filmmaking industry challenges and opportunities in order to help formulate career goals; 
  • Evaluate the ethical implications inherent in filmmaking practices;
