Education Benefits & Financial Aid

Military service members and veterans can obtain a wide array of financial aid as well as military benefits from Champlain College. Champlain offers many financial aid options, credit transfer for service members and fields of study relevant to members of the Armed Forces.

Qualified Veterans, military service members, and dependents have several benefit options that may be available to you - the most common being the G.I. Bill®. Benefits are based on a variety of factors and are determined by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.

All military applicants admitted into a Champlain degree program automatically receive an annual $10,000 scholarship and are considered for other merit-based scholarships.

Other Educational Benefits

Credit for Training

The training you received during your time in the Armed Forces can transfer to Champlain College credit. Transferring credit can greatly accelerate your learning and lessen the amount of time it takes to get your undergraduate degree. Champlain's Office of Military & Veteran Services will review your military transcripts for experience to determine transfer credit based on recommendations from the  American Council on Education (ACE). Be sure to designate that your official transcripts are to be sent to Champlain College.

Credit for Life Experience

Students admitted through Champlain College Online may transfer in up to 90 credits toward their bachelor's degree, leaving only 30 credits to earn (10 upper division-level courses). Transfer credit may be granted in a variety of ways, including for courses or training you received while in the military.

DANTES Affiliate

Champlain College is a Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) affiliate. DANTES provides no-cost education and career-planning programs for members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Programs can help military members at every stage of their military career, from entry into the service to the final stage of civilian transition to their next career.

Military Tuition Assistance

Champlain accepts Military Tuition Assistance and VA "Top Up" tuition assistance for students wishing to use the Post 9/11 GI Bill ® or Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill and MilTA together. Military tuition assistance should have final approval prior to the start of classes.

NOTE: It's recommended that all service members check with their local ESO for the latest status of their branch's Military Tuition Assistance.
