Jonathan Abramson

Biography

Jonathan D. Abramson, D.C.Sc. is an experienced educator who has taught a variety of computer science courses at different universities and colleges. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Brescia University, where he teaches courses such as Office Applications, Programming I and II, Data Structures, System Analysis, Operating Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Networking, and Programming Languages. In addition to teaching, he also advises and mentors students, creates the CS class schedule for the department, and performs assessments for the department. At the University of the Cumberlands, he served as an Associate Professor of Computer and Information Sciences, where he designed and taught courses at the master’s and doctoral levels, served on dissertation committees, and attended doctoral and master’s residencies all over the US. He has also taught courses at Champlain College, Post University, and Northwestern Connecticut Community College. In addition to teaching, he has also managed departments, mentored faculty, and conducted market studies.

Everett Ackerman

Biography

Everett was a 2016 graduate of Champlain who stayed in the Burlington area after graduating to fulfill a role at a local Marketing agency. Through the years, Everett grew his skills and expertise in a number of strategic positions at New Breed Marketing. After 5 years, Everett started his own consulting firm, focused on helping local startups build their revenue growth potential through aligned Marketing, Sales and Operations focused activities. Everett now is a Principal Account Executive at New Breed, Co-Founder at Oakheart Accelerator, Co-Franchise Owner of GoliathTech Twinstate and teaches Marketing classes at Champlain College.

Adnane Adossama

Biography

Adnane was a first-generation college student, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science from Vermont State Universities Castleton Campus in 2019. He went on to work for their TRIO Upward Bound and McNair Scholars Program. As an Admissions Counselors, he enjoys working with students and families throughout the admissions process, helping them realize the amazing endless possibilities at Champlain.

Adnane is enjoying his return to Burlington Vermont, reliving some of his favorite childhood memories down by the waterfront.

Alexander Adrian

Biography

Alexander really likes being outdoors and especially being outdoors with a camera in hand. He’s passionate about creating and telling stories and loves to experiment with new ways of doing that.

Over the last decade Alexnder has worked through all areas of creative and production – from directing award winning films and brand campaigns to television shows and live events. Through all that time he still find nothing better than the process of taking something from an idea on paper to a tangible story or piece of content for the world to see.

Alexander is as comfortable out on a mountain ridge as he is on film set and loves developing and working on great creative.

Gabriel Affonso-Wagner

Biography

Gabriel joined Champlain College in the winter of 2025. As a New York City resident, he brings the personalized admission experience Champlain is known for to High Schoolers, their families, and School Counselors of the Five Boroughs, Long Island, Westchester and Northern New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies with a concentration in Theology from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. At his Alma Mater, Gabriel earned experience in college admissions through student ambassadorship, internships and student employment in the office of admissions. As a college admissions professional with over a decade’s worth of experience, he’s worked for many colleges and universities in his career helping countless amounts of talented young people find their best-fit college to become future professionals and achieve meaningful success. Jessica Akey

Biography

Jessica Akey has over 20 years of academic experience, teaching undergraduates in-person and online. She advocates for increasing access to students seeking professional and continuing education. Jessica is a graduate of Communication Studies at James Madison University (BS), University of Illinois (MS), and the University of Buffalo (PhD). She lives in Colchester, VT and enjoys celebrating all the seasons with her children.

The library collects materials that are directly related to the courses and anticipated student research projects. Emphasis is placed on acquiring materials that represent diverse viewpoints to broaden knowledge beyond personal biases and the echo chambers of major media. By providing a broad range of viewpoints on subjects the students have the opportunity to learn about others, and develop the skills to discuss difficult topics civilly with individuals who do not mirror their beliefs. As the world we live in becomes more politically divided and less tolerable to those who think differently, this will become ever more important.

Anne Allen

Biography

Anne currently works in CCO as a Senior Course Producer. Anne started working at Champlain in 2013 in eLearning. Anne received her B.A. degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder in Art History. After finishing college in Colorado, Anne moved to Jackson, Wyoming for 3 years to study the social behavior of coyotes. After Wyoming, she moved to Seattle, Washington for 6 years where she worked for the Geophysics Department studying Mount St. Helens. While in Seattle, Anne also volunteered with SARDA, Mountain Search and Rescue Dogs. Anne has lived in Burlington Vermont for over 37 years. When she is not producing online courses for CCO, she can be found “enjoying” her daughter, Mollie, her Scotch Collie, CinnBreagh, and her Champlain College Community garden plot.

Timothy Anderson

Biography

Timothy obtained a Masters in Business Administration from Strayer University and a Bachelors of Information Technology from American Intercontinental University. He has numerous certification in Cloud and Software engineering. He currently works as a Devops Engineer, in the Software Engineering department for a privately own FinTech. He also enjoys making time for running and traveling whenever possible. Running and traveling are two interest that he is very passionate about and encourage all people to explore.

Nic Anderson

Biography

Nic is the AVP of Planning and Operations. He helps the Campus Operations teams of Facilities (buildings and grounds), Campus Services (Foodservice, Custodial, Transportation, Campus Store, Mail Center and other services), Sustain Champlain and the Conference and Event Center create world class places and services for our students, employees and visitors. He also manages all long range planning and construction projects at the college.

Nic has been at Champlain since 2014, previously working in the City of Burlington Zoning Office. He gained a Bachelor of Resource Studies, Majoring in Planning from Lincoln University, New Zealand in 2002. Nic moved to the United States in 2003 and has lived in Utah, New York state and Vermont ever since. He earned a Master of Science in Human Relations and Organization Development from Champlain College in 2020 (what a year to do a masters degree…thanks Covid).

Nic lives in South Burlington (a short bike ride away, regardless of the season) with his wife Amy and two children Sage and Cora. We proudly bike to work and school every day of the year, yes even in deep winter.

What are your hobbies?

Nic loves riding bikes (any kind), snowboarding and playing golf. He is also excited to do almost any outdoor activity. Is drinking coffee a hobby?

John James (JJ) Anderson

Biography

John James (JJ) Anderson supports everyone within the Champlain community through his role within ChampSupport, the campus IT support helpdesk. Following a successful undergraduate tenure in the CIT program at Champlain, JJ continually aims to provide friendly and insightful assistance wherever possible. JJ also continues his education through Champlain’s Online program (CCO), and he works with fellow Champlain graduates to provide contract IT solutions in the greater Vermont community as well.

Outside of his professional life, JJ often spends time with friends discovering a new board game, reading a book, or enjoying a leisurely bike ride when weather allows. He can sometimes be found grabbing a bite at Sneakers Bistro in Winooski.

Emily Andrews

Biography

Emily Andrews is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Vermont. Her educational journey led her to Syracuse University, where she earned a BFA in Illustration, and later to Champlain College for an MFA in the Emergent Media program.

Emily’s work is deeply rooted in both digital and traditional media, with a particular affinity for the texture and tactility of traditional printmaking. Her creative sensibilities lean towards comics and visual storytelling, and her portfolio spans a diverse array of projects including logos, branding assets, and a graphic novels.

In her freelance capacity, Emily has brought her unique visual language to a variety of local publications and authors, among others. Her commitment to her craft and adaptability across various media have enabled her to consistently deliver compelling visual narratives that resonate with her clients and audience.
