Travel + Leisure just named Burlington, Vermont, as one of the “25 Best College Towns and Cities in the U.S.,” calling it “a drop-dead gorgeous town.” We couldn’t agree more.

Those of us who live, study, work, and play here know that it’s so much more than just a pretty face that makes Burlington the quintessential college town; it’s everything about the place. Picture a fun and funky city right along an epic lake. Now imagine a red-hot music scene, farm-to-table eateries, eclectic shops, and a downtown teeming with students. Now you’ll start to get the idea.

Then, there’s the incredible terrain for just about any outdoor activity you can think of: biking, sailing, kayaking, hiking, walking. The list goes on and on. Travel + Leisure quips, “Winter sports lovers, this college town is for you…Come here to learn and to be within an hour or two’s drive to some of the best skiing in the U.S., including Stowe Mountain, Mad River Glen, and Killington.”

Sure Burlington is fantastic in the winter months, but the city offers great leisure-time activities year round. For example, we are currently entering leaf peeping season. This means people from across the world will travel to Vermont to enjoy our unmatched seasonal views. Champlain students will explore local apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and hiking spots with breathtaking foliage.

If you would like to check out Burlington yourself, we have daily visits and open house events throughout the year. Our Fall Open House Events are in September and October.
