Why Review
Performance reviews at Champlain College serve a dual purpose: providing employees with constructive feedback on their work and aligning individual goals with the College’s broader objectives. Annual Performance Review Timeline
This process typically happens as the academic year wraps up in May and June. Specific dates each year will be based on the academic calendar. See the steps below for specific stages and tasks.
Faculty Evaluation Forms
These easy-to-use forms are designed for faculty. Whether it’s annual evaluations, multi-year assessments, or performance reviews, our tools make the process straightforward.
Staff Annual Performance Review Instructions
Your Performance Review is an opportunity to discuss accomplishments, progress on goals, overall performance, individual and team contributions, professional development and areas for growth.
-
Employee Self-Evaluation
The self-reflection step is broken up into these three sections
- Goal Plan: Oracle automatically integrates the institutional and personal goals you set the previous year. In this section, you will be able to comment on your progress on each goal.
- Professional Development & Annual Reflection: There are two sections here with reflection prompts:
- Core Role and Day to Day Performance
- Learning, Growth, and Support
- Overall Summary: Here you can add any additional information to send to your manager that may not have fit the other sections, a reflection of the past year, or anything else you’d like your manager to know.
- Tips
- Gather your inputs in advance (ex – goals)
- Write short, concise statements – we aren’t looking for a “book”
- Be thoughtful, but don’t over think
-
Manager Review
Your manager will have the opportunity to read your self-evaluation and respond with their perspective and feedback.
As part of this review, your manager will also elicit feedback from their manager/Senior Leader. This gives you another opportunity for further insight.
-
Review & Reflection Conversation
This is the most important part of the process. Use this time to meet with your manager to reflect on your review, celebrate wins, and talk through places for growth.
- Tips
- This may replace a normally scheduled 1:1 meeting
- Typically will last between 45 – 90 minutes
- This is intended to be a discussion – with sharing of perspectives
- Some managers may provide the written document in advance; others will provide it in or after the meeting
- Be prepared and ready for the discussion

Sign-Off & Final Comments
This step serves as confirmation that you’ve completed your review and met with your manager. It also gives you an opportunity to add any final comments before signing off and ending the process.
