As computers, the internet, and networks evolve, communication and data systems have become increasingly complex, operating with higher speeds and larger traffic volumes. That complexity provides vulnerabilities that can range from simple annoyances to significant liabilities and losses costing millions of dollars in damage or lost revenue.
In the face of prevalent and ever-changing data breaches and security risks, we urgently need professionals who are trained to prevent, detect, and mitigate these types of cyberattacks.
Champlain's Computer Networking & Cybersecurity program provides the cutting-edge skills required to maintain the security of our internet and digital lives.
Our computer labs and virtual infrastructure give you experience dealing with situations involving sensitive data for individual users and government agencies. You'll scan networks for vulnerabilities and learn how to best secure information shared through integrated networks, web servers, and databases. As you come to understand firsthand how cyberattacks are staged against network infrastructure, you'll practice handling and reducing their effects as well as developing and integrating security measures to prevent and defend against future attacks.
Champlain College has been designated as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency (NSA); we are preparing our students exceptionally well for the kind of work needed on the front lines of national cybersecurity.
In our Upside-Down Curriculum, you'll start taking networking and cybersecurity courses beginning in your first semester, allowing you to develop a deep skill set over four years. Through projects, service work for local nonprofits and organizations, internships, and other experiential learning opportunities, our Computer Networking & Cybersecurity major immerses you in the profession. You'll be well versed in designing, building, and securing enterprise network and computing environments.
The Computer Networking & Cybersecurity program provides:
extensive training in server software installation, systems administrative functions, networks and network services configurations, and LAN and WAN technology and protocols;
a wide array of networking, systems administration, and cybersecurity courses that all offer the benefits of small class sizes and hands-on learning; and
an excellent learning environment in a city with great employment opportunities for students in this major, both during and after college.
