Why Minor in Finance?

Given the recent opportunities and challenges in financial markets on Wall Street and around the world, the need for savvy business professionals with a strong background in finance has never been greater. In order to thrive in competitive economic markets, today’s businesses depend on the most forward-thinking financial practices that will help them thrive in the present and well into the future.

With Champlain’s 15-credit minor in finance, you will:

  • Study the financial activities of businesses and their relationships to other facets of their organization.
  • Learn key microeconomic principles such as supply and demand, non-quantifiable costs, externalities and general economic thinking.
  • Gain skills and knowledge in organizational form, taxes, financial analysis, budgeting, cost-volume-profit relationships, capital expenditures and management of current assets.
