The ability to transfer previous credits has a major impact on where you decide to continue your higher education journey, which is why our transfer team will work hard to help you maximize the number of credits that will transfer to your program of study at Champlain.
All transfer applicants are required to submit official transcripts from all previously attended academic institutions as part of their application, including transcripts from institutions attended while in high school as part of an early college or dual enrollment program.

Through the Degree Design Lab’s Transfer Pathway program, students with an associate degree can transfer 60 to 75 of their credits into Champlain’s Integrative Professional Studies program-no matter what you’ve previously studied. From there, you only need to complete an additional 60 credits-two academic years-to earn this Bachelor of Science degree.
Whether you want to continue in the field of your associate degree or move into a new area of focus, this program gives you the freedom to tailor your degree to your specific goals. There are 22 areas of study from which you can choose to anchor your academic pathway, and the Degree Design Lab faculty will help you choose the ones that are right for you.
In fact, from day one, Degree Design Lab faculty will serve as key advisors to your studies. From helping you identify your ideal area of study to providing valuable guidance on how to combine traditional coursework with opportunities for more experiential and project-based learning, this program’s faculty support is robust and ongoing – a major draw for many of our transfer students.
DEGREE DESIGN LAB’S TRANSFER PATHWAY PROGRAM: AREAS OF STUDY
A student transferring from another accredited college or university may transfer up to 75 credit hours to our on-campus bachelors degree programs, provided these credits correlate with similar required or elective courses offered at Champlain College and meet program requirements. To be considered for transfer credit, courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher.
Credit hours for transferred courses are given full value. However, your grades are not transferred to your permanent Champlain College record and do not become part of your cumulative GPA at Champlain. In all cases, a minimum of 45 credit hours must be completed at Champlain, and this must include 15 hours of courses at the 300 level or above in the major field of study.
Credits from courses at your previous institution that are comparable to required courses in your major at Champlain will be applied toward your professional program requirements.
Transfer credit for courses that don’t fit the requirements for your Champlain major may be possible if they fulfill a science, math, or elective requirement.
Additional opportunities for transfer credit are available through military credit and credit by examination: Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate Exam (Higher Level 1B), or CLEP exam.
The acceptance of transfer credits is at the sole discretion of Champlain College. Judgment of program similarity is determined in the Registrar’s Office based on criteria provided by the appropriate academic division at Champlain College, and judgments are made at the College’s discretion. Credit hours for transferred courses are given full value, but grades are not transferred to a student’s permanent Champlain College record and do not become part of a student’s cumulative grade point average at Champlain College.
The Vermont Guarantee is a transfer partnership between the Community College of Vermont (CCV) and participating four-year colleges and universities, including Champlain College.

All transfer applicants admitted to a Champlain degree program automatically receive a $10,000 annual scholarship and are eligible for other merit-based scholarships.
